The power plant is planned with an intake in the Skinnellåna river, which flows through Skinelddalen and Stølsbekken, a tributary of Skinnellåna.
The valley sides of the development section are characterized by primeval masses and steep terrain. The vegetation mainly consists of birch forest.
The waterway will be approximately 1,600 meters long. The power station will be established above ground with a turbine center at elevation 173 and will have an outlet to Skinnellåna. A pelton turbine with an output of 5.7 MW will be installed. The station is planned to be wood-clad and have a floor area of 100 m2. It will contain a machine room, control room, transformer room and high-voltage facilities.
In connection with detailed planning, the area has been assessed in terms of flood and landslide risk. Such incidents have been registered in the area, but not in Skinneldalen itself.
In 2011, an assessment of the impact on biodiversity in the area was carried out. At that time, no red-listed species were found.
